Sharjah: Hosts New Indian Model School-Sharjah beat DPS-Sharjah 74-50 to reach the finals of 22nd NIMS Trophy Inter School Basketball Tournament.
DPS looked good in the first quarter as the teams stayed neck-and-neck, befor NIMS led by a narrow margin, 14-13, at the break.
NIMS raced ahead in the second quarter and increased their lead to 12 points, giving them a half-time advantage of 36-24.
There was then no looking back for the hosts as they scored 16-10 and 22-16 in the remaining quarters. For the winners, Mohammad Jassim top scored with 23 points.
Abhil Dev Arun had 13 points, Mohammed Sarhan 12 and Mohammed Ansar with eight were the other leading scorers for NIMS-Sharjah. Addeb Iqbal on 19 points and Karun Kumar 17 excelled for DPS, Sharjah.
In the second semi-final, St. Mary's High School, Dubai outplayed Model School, Abu Dhabi 81-48 to reach the final. At half-time, St. Mary's led 39-17.
Victor Emeka Jr. top scored for the winners with 28 points - he was well assisted by Laurence Justin with 17 points. For Model School, Simhas Prasanth top scored with 24 points.
