NBA stars set for exhibition match in Dubai

Some of the top players from the NBA will arrive in Dubai for an exhibition match at the Al Wasl Club next month.

Dubai: Some of the top players from the NBA will arrive in Dubai for an exhibition match at the Al Wasl Club next month.

The two-day basketball extravaganza has attracted current NBA players such as Monta Ellis, Carlos Arroyo, Rafer Alston, Steve Blake, Speedy Claxton, Marquis Daniels and Bernard Robinson for the exhibition matches planned at Al Wasl Club indoor stadium on March 7-8.

The NBA stars will be joined by four of the top basketball players from the Arab world, Lebanon's Fadi Al Khatib and Esmail Ahmad, Syria's Michel Madanli and Qatar's Yaseen Esmail.

The event will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum by the UAE Basketball Association.

Free agent

The star cast from the US will be led by Golden State Warriors' guard Monta Ellis, the Detroit Pistons' and Orlando Magic's Carlos Arroyo, the Houston Rockets' guard Rafer Alston, the Washington Wizards and Portland Trailblazers' point guard Steve Blake, Atlanta Hawks' Speedy Claxton, Indiana Pacers' shooting guard Marquis Daniels and free agent Bernard Robinson, who once donned colours for the New Jersey Nets and the New Orleans Hornets.

The players will be in Dubai as a part of the famed ADN1 Team from the US. The AND1 Mixtape players have been known to show up in unusual places in the world to play basketball on a local court. This is known as 'Crash The Court'.

Next legend

In its short history, the AND1 Team has featured street ball players of fame. Every year AND1 players tour America to recruit the next street ball legend.

The AND1 Team consists of a group of super star players who have extraordinary skills, in addition to their reputation all over the US while also pursuing their careers as professionals, predominantly on the NBA.
