Dubai: Millennium School, Dubai, won the fifth edition of the Al Diyafah Interschool Basketball Tournament for junior girls.

Amrita Leo steered Millennium to a 24-10 victory over Al Salam Private School in the final. Leo hogged the limelight, scoring 14 points.

Although Seema Bakre tried her best to help Al Salam school match the skills of the Millennium players, she could not. However, she scored eight out of the 10 points scored by her school.

Millennium displayed superior co-ordination and won the tournament through a consistent show. In the semifinal, Millennium scored a 22-8 win over hosts Al Diyafah while Al Salam clinched a place in the final through a 12-9 win over Winchester School Dubai.

Bakre sparkled in this match too, top scoring with six points. Hanan scored four points for Winchester.

In Millennium's semifinal, Shreya Munge top scored with 10 points while Tazneem chipped in with six. The lone fighter for Al Diyafah was Twinkle, who scored five out of the eight points.

Twinkle had played a big role in Al Diyafah reaching the semifinal. She scored eight points along with Marwa Atif (four points) in her school's 14-4 victory over Cambridge High School, Dubai.

She had also scored six points even in Al Diyafah's 7-10 defeat to Al Salam in the second match of the tournament and also top scored in third place play off with four points.

Leo won the best player award while her colleague Munge won the top scorer award. Bakre of Al Salam was adjudged the best team player.

Winchester School clinched the third place, defeating Al Diyafah 12-6.
