Dubai: Coach Aries Ferreras's wards delivered in time to help Mas Paints to an emphatic 86-67 win against Canada Shipping in the 3rd FBC-Mama Sita's Cup summer basketball tournament being held at Al Shaab Club in Sharjah last week.

Guided by Ferreras, the Mas Paints boys went on an early 12-0 rampage and never looked behind after that to power their way to a 3-1 win-loss record against the shippers.

The win also gives the paints company a clean 4-0 chit in the semifinal stages of this annual competition.

Jade Guzman scored 20 points for Mas Paints to balance the scoring assault with Roger Medina, Jhong Mahinay and Albert Mandane's contributions of 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Shooting guard Francis Espiritu played a remarkable game in the fourth quarter to help Goltens to a 64-62 win against Crystal Optics.

Ronald Sarabia iced the game with two free throws in the ensuing plays to peg the the final count with two ticks left.

Dagupan Cargo's star Monsy Tan gave another sterling performance with a tournament-high 34 points to guide his team past the gritty Dubai Islanders 81-66.

The game of the day, however, was Marble Renewal securing an upset 74-57 win against Adventure Land.

That loss extended Adventure Land's losing streak to four to stay in third spot with an equal 2-2) win-loss record along with Crystal Optics and Dagupan Cargo.

After a slow start, Marble Renewal bounced back strongly in the early part of the second quarter for a 10-0 blast that made things easy for them towards the end.

The final quarter also witnessed some swift scoring from the Marbel Renewal boys as they dumped in six unanswered points for a comfortable 14-point lead with two minutes remaining.
