Indian High School, Dubai won the 15th NIMS Trophy inter-school basketball tournament beating the hosts New Indian Model School, Sharjah 68-54 in a well fought game.

The score board remained blank for the first three minutes as both the team struggled to find their target.

Backed by the vociferous support from the crowd, NIMS, Sharjah, soon consolidated their position by scoring through their lanky Ajeeth Sugunan and Mohammad Sohel.

Indian High's Romy Raymond and Abdul Khalique responded quickly by scoring four points each. NIMS led by a single point after the first quarter of 10 minute's play.

NIMS got a seven point lead at the beginning of the second quarter but several miss passes by NIMS resulted in a turnover of the game.

Muzammil Hussain capitalised on the situation and equalised the score for Indian High.

Substitute Abdullah Al Masood gave hopes for the host team when he went on a scoring spree including two three pointers.

The lead changed hands and at half time Indian High led by a margin of two points (33 31).

NIMS lost control of the game in the third quarter with floor violations and miss passes and successive fouls. It landed Ajeeth in the bench.

Junaid, Abdul Khalique and Muzammil found no resistance when they pierced through the NIMS defence. Indian High School scored 21 points against NIMS's 10 points to increase their lead to 13 points.

Both the teams were equally balanced in the last quarter but NIMS once again wasted many opportunities with careless shots.

Indian High School scored 14 points against NIMS's 13 points in the last quarter and won the game by a margin of 14 points.

Earlier, in the play-off match NIMS, Dubai defeated Our Own, Dubai, 46 35, to clinch the third place.

At half time NIMS were trailing 20 -23. At the end of the third quarter Our Own lead 31 30. However, Majeed's three pointers decided the result in favour of NIMS.

Mithulaj Moideen of NIMS Sharjah won the Geepas best player of the tournament award while Muzammil Hussain of Indian High School, Dubai bagged the most promising player of the tournament prize.
