Abu Dhabi: Harlem Globetrotters stars Buckets Blake and Hi-Lite Bruton put on an exhibition display of freestyle basketball for a group of local schoolchildren this week, ahead of the team’s three-day tour of the UAE, later this month.

The Globetrotters play three games at Dubai Aviation Club’s Tennis Stadium, on October 25 and 26, and then two games at Zayed Sports City’s Tennis Stadium in Abu Dhabi on October 27. Matches will be at 2pm and 7pm.

Blake and Bruton gave schoolchildren a taste of what to expect later this month with a dazzling display of skill and athleticism in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Blake said: “We’re really excited about bringing our show to the UAE. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are amazing places that love both sport and entertainment so the show is right at home here.

“It’s going to be a great couple of games that nobody should miss out on. This is entertainment like you’ve never seen before.”

At the five games children from the audience will get the chance to meet and speak with players on court, where they’ll also be shown how to perform various skills.

Barry Bremner, Director of Business at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City, one of the venues for the games, said the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters were a perfect fit for an event in the capital.

He said: “Today has been a small taste of what’s to come from these amazing athletes. What these guys do during a full show is absolutely mind blowing. It’s a brilliant display of athleticism, entertainment and comedy all rolled into one amazing show — the likes of which Abu Dhabi loves but hasn’t seen for a while.”

Tickets start at Dh125 for single tickets, with a family pass for four costing Dh400. For all event information and to purchase tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters live in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, go to www.harlemglobetrottersuae.com.
