Atlanta: Rookie pitcher Luis Severino allowed four hits in six scoreless innings to lead the New York Yankees to a 3-1 victory over Matt Wisler and the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.

Severino (3-1) was lifted for pinch-hitter Alex Rodriguez in the seventh. Soon after Rodriguez was introduced, a fan fell from the upper level deck onto the lower level seats. He was given emergency treatment and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The fan, a man believed to be in his 60s, was not identified by police pending notification of next of kin.

The Yankees remained one game behind first-placed Toronto in the AL East with their second straight win over the Braves.

The Braves have lost four straight and 11 of 12. The sellout crowd of 49,243 was a season-high at Turner Field.

Andrew Miller pitched a perfect ninth for his 28th save.

In Toronto, Edwin Encarnacion hit three home runs and equaled a Blue Jays record with nine RBIs in a 15-1 thrashing of Detroit.

Encarnacion extended his hitting streak to 24 games, the longest in the majors this season, with a three-run homer off Buck Farmer (0-3) in the first inning.

Encarnacion hit a two-run shot off Guido Knudson in the sixth, then connected for a grand slam against Alex Wilson in the seventh. Encarnacion hit his third slam of the season, matching the club record shared by Carlos Delgado and Darrin Fletcher.

The Blue Jays have scored 10 or more runs in 21 games this year. They have totaled 709 runs this season — the Yankees began the day second in the majors with 604.

Drew Hutchison (13-2) won his fourth straight start.
