Dubai: A little league collective of the most talented 12- to 13-year-old baseball players in the UAE travels to Kutno in Poland on Sunday for the regional qualifiers of junior baseball's most prestigious tournament, the Little League World Series.

Thirteen boys from five different countries will travel from Dubai to the round-robin tournament in Poland from July 21-24 in order to outdo teams from South Africa, Uganda, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The champion earns the right to represent the Middle East and Africa in August's World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, an event that's broadcast globally on ESPN.

"The boys are an impressive group," said Australian head coach Pete Giles. "They have sacrificed their summers in order to train to be the best they can possibly be. We go to Poland as a united team ready to compete against the other teams and represent the UAE as best we can."

"We have as good a shot as anyone," said Canadian assistant coach Kelly Jones.
