New York: Alex Rodriguez, sidelined almost three weeks by a strained right hamstring, will return to the New York Yankees line-up on Tuesday, manager Joe Girardi announced on Saturday.

The 40-year-old designated hitter missed the entire 2014 Major League Baseball season while serving a suspension for his role in the Biogenesis doping scandal, but led the Yankees with 33 home runs last year.

Matt Cain pitched six strong innings and helped himself with his bat, Buster Posey added a two-run homer and the San Francisco Giants beat the Chicago Cubs 5-3. Yangervis Solarte, fresh off the disabled list, drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the 11th inning to give the San Diego Padres their second straight walkoff victory (3-2) against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
