Dubai: Over 3,000 runners are expected to line up at The Palm Jumeirah for the UAE Athletics Federation's second annual 5-kilometre Women's Run to be held on November 11.

Last year's race saw more than 1,500 runners compete but this year it promises to be even better attended with hygiene company Always stepping in as the title sponsor of the event.

"The idea is to take the event a few steps further and with this intention, we will introduce the 10k run along with the 5k," said Ahmad Al Kamali, the newly-elected IAAF Council Member and President, UAE AF.

"We could not have thought about a more scenic setting for the race by having it on The Palm Jumeirah and the race will now be known as the ‘Always 5k Dubai Women's Run'.

"Always wants to help inspire women to discover the positive power of exercise and as the title sponsor of this run, Always wants to make physical activity an everyday part of life for women and girls," he added.

Organisers are expecting participants from across the region, Asia and Europe.
