Abu Dhabi: The Yas Marina Circuit is set to welcome 900 triathletes for its second annual Tri Yas event tomorrow from 4pm.

Among the competitors in at the region's first twilight run will be Egyptian Olympic hopeful and first professional triathlete Omar Noor. As well as participating, Noor will also host a clinic with junior duathlon competitors before their race starts.

The London 2012 contender will also be giving a talk the night before at the Tri Yas Triathlete Pasta Party between 6pm and 10pm on Thursday, in the circuit's Yas Viceroy Hotel Ballroom. Athletes can fuel up for the race and socialise while hearing hints and tips from the star (7 to 7.30pm).

Race day spectators can find the best vantage points at the Media Centre and Marina for the swimming leg, the Yas Paddock Suites overlooking the pits for the bike leg and the Paddock area for the run finish. Entrance is free and food and drinks will be on sale.

Those registered to compete are reminded that race registration and race pack collection takes places in the circuit's pits garages five and six today from 6pm to 10pm as well as on race day from 12 noon to 3pm.

Nick McElwee, the sales and marketing director at Yas Marina Circuit, said: "Last year's inaugural Tri Yas attracted 600 competitors from across the UAE and the region. This year as a result of the on-going support of the UAE sporting community and Tri Yas's new twilight timing and format, we'll be welcoming an unprecedented 900 competitors — that's a 50 per cent increase on last year.

"With so many participants this year, we're strongly encouraging friends and families to come to the circuit to show their support and hopefully be inspired to enter next year's Tri Yas."
