Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) will be backing the annual ‘Colour Run’ to be held at the Dubai Autodrome on Saturday.
Organised with sponsorship from Activelife Insurance Company, the five-kilometre race is considered one of the most eminent social and sports events in the world. The event gains more prominence not just due to the participation of thousands of Dubai residents but due to the colourful attire worn by participants.
The inaugural edition of the ‘Colour Run’ was joined by millions of people around the world after it was held at the same time in more than 100 cities. This is the first time the event has been held in the Middle East and organisers are putting in a lot of effort to have this event as a prominent fixture on its annual calendar.
Though it is a non-competitive race, the ‘Colour Run’ will have a range of activities on the sidelines including food stalls, music and entertainment shows.
“The Colour Run is part of our strategy aimed at popularising the culture of exercise and physical activities to generate a healthy and productive community,” said Dr Ahmad Sa’ad Al Sharif, General Secretary, DSC.
