Dubai The forward-thinking American University in the Emirates (AUE) has signed an agreement with the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC) in a partnership that will explore the opportunities for research collaboration and a shared vision of sports studies.

The partnership, which was signed between Professor Muthanna Abdul Razzaq, President and CEO of the AUE, and Major General Ahmed Nasser, President of the AASC, included discussions on education relationships between the Middle East and Africa.

The signing of the agreement is in keep with the framework of the University’s keenness to enhance its sporting orientation following the launch of a wide range of sporting disciplines at the university.

“I am very excited as it is a unique and new partnership,” said Major General Nasser, a former Arab and World champion in modern pentathlete.

“We have taken a great step forward together,”

“If you look at it as a short-term project, it’s essentially about sports. But the larger vision is to develop and create a sports lifestyle through academics.

“I think that with the help of the AUE we can create academic courses for the Secretary Generals of all the 56 confederation in Africa in addition to programs that will be very beneficial for both Africa and the Middle East,” he added.

“Our aim is improve the standards and quality of planning, organizing and management in order to provide better services.

“It is an ambitious program but we are aware the the AUE has a pioneering attitude towards higher education and research.”

Professor Muthanna, who created the AUE motto that ‘nothing is impossible’ hailed the partnership between the university and AASC as a significant step forward in high quality teaching and reasearch.

“We are very happy to be one of AASC’s partners,” he said.

“Signing this agreement marks an exciting new ear for close collaborations between the AUE and African sport.

“I believe that through the joint supervision of our team of strategic thinkers and their counterparts in the AASC Board, we can develop sports projects that will make our partnership strong and lasting.

“I hope that the efforts of both the AUE and AASC will develop into broader exchanges and cooperation between the two of us.”

Professor Muthanna revealed that the AUE board had approved the establishment of such a innovative and pioneering project to coltivate talent in sports science, technology and management.
