Jakarta Indonesia will be expecting two gold medals from their men’s and mixed doubles pair at the 17th Asian Games, starting Friday in the South Korean city of Incheon.

Team spokesperson Yuni Kartika said Wednesday that the gold medals were expected from men’s doubles pair of Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan, and mixed doubles pair Tantowi Ahmad and Liliyana Nasir.

“We target to bring home at least two gold medals. We will strive to get more than that,” Yuni at the Cipayung training centre for the national badminton players.

Indonesia will be fielding a 18-member badminton squad, comprising nine men and nine women each. The team left for South Korea Tuesday evening, said national team manager Lius Pongoh.

“All the athletes are in their best condition. We are certain that they are ready to vie,” said Pongoh.

The Indonesian men’s team comprises Tommy Sugiarto, Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, Jonathan Christie, Hendra Setiawan, Mohammad Ahsan, Angga Pratama, Rian Agung Saputro, Praveen Jordan and Tantowi Ahmad. The women’s team includes Linda Wenifanetri, Hanna Ramadini, Ballaetrix Manuputty, Greysia Polii, Suci Rizki Andini, Nitya Krishinda, Tiara Rosaliana, Debby Susanto and Liliyana Natsir.
