Washington: The injury-hit Pittsburgh Steelers are apparently poised to bring former NFL defensive player of the year James Harrison out of his short retirement.

Harrison said on Twitter on Monday that he is ready to get back into action.

“I’ll give it one more year!” Harrison, who spent 10 of his 11 NFL seasons with Pittsburgh, wrote on the social networking site.

The team was reportedly to meet with Harrison on Tuesday. On Sunday, Pittsburgh saw outside linebacker Jarvis Jones go down with a wrist injury and rookie Ryan Shazier hurt his right knee in a 37-19 win at Carolina.

Harrison, who won a pair of Super Bowls with the Steelers, announced his retirement on Facebook on August 31.

Harrison started 95 of the 131 games he played with the Steelers and ranks fourth in franchise history with 64 sacks. He was the NFL defensive player of the year in 2008.

Harrison joined Cincinnati last season and helped the Bengals to the AFC North division title.
