San Francisco: Former NFL running back Glen Coffee is attempting a comeback after spending seven years away from the gridiron, the past four of them serving in the US Army. The league reinstated the 29-year-old and he was then waived by the San Francisco 49ers, with whom he played his lone NFL campaign in 2009 before retiring in 2010. Coffee, now a free agent available to any interested team, was taken in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He ran for 226 yards on 83 carries while making 11 catches for 76 yards and a touchdown for the 49ers, who finished 8-8 that season and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
