Indianapolis: Veteran receiver Andre Johnson joined the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, just two days after the seven-time Pro Bowler was released by the Houston Texans.

The Colts did not release details of the contract but the US media reported that Johnson signed a three-year National Football League deal worth $21 million (Dh77 million).

Johnson, 33, was released on Monday after 12 years with the Texans. He had been the longest-tenured player for the Texans, having been drafted third overall in 2003.

Last season Johnson grabbed 85 passes for 936 yards and three touchdowns in 15 contests. Johnson caught 1,012 passes for 13,597 yards and 64 touchdowns in 169 games with the Texans.

The Colts’ offence will now feature Andrew Luck, Frank Gore, Johnson and T.Y. Hilton.

Indianapolis announced earlier this month that they would not bring back long-time receiver Reggie Wayne.
