Pacquiao is officially in town to play for his Philippine Basketball Association team the Mahindra Enforcers at Al Wasl Club on Friday night.
But the speculation is he will also scope out potential venues for the final fight of his illustrious boxing career.
He is expected to have one last fight in April 2016 before retiring ahead of the Philippine general election in May, where he is standing for senator.
UAE officials are keen to do what they can to get the fight staged in Dubai.
“Definitely, we are looking for that, nothing’s official but if he wants to, definitely we will sit and discuss it,” Dubai Sports Council general secretary Saeed Hareb said on Monday.
And Pacquiao confirmed Dubai is a realistic option. “Of course, I’d love to have a fight here in Dubai,” he said at the airport.
