Philanthropilipino, a nonprofit volunteer-based group in the UAE, is on a mission. Our target is to complete at least four major projects annually. The latest plan is to help less fortunate children back in the Philippines, by providing them with a starter kit for school every May, so that they can be motivated to study hard and do well in school.

The group already saw success with the ‘Christmas Gift’ program for less fortunate children in Manila this year. We were able to provide gifts to 115 children in the Philippines, and are planning to do so every year. The group has big dreams — as members were able to send across 115 gifts this year, we don’t see any problem coming up with at least 500 gifts next year. Special thanks to Makati Express in Dubai for sponsoring the shipping of a jumbo box full gifts from Dubai to Manila.

An outreach program with Filipinas under the care of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will also be conducted every year and in line with that, we are working on helping the OWWA in Dubai by sponsoring tickets, with the help of the community members of Philanthropilipino.

This has been a great year for Philanthropilipino, as the group has accomplished a lot with the support of all members here in Dubai and in Manila.

I personally want to thank everyone who has supported our events this year. They have shared their time, money and efforts and have managed to touch and change someone else’s life for the better.

I encourage everyone to share their ideas with us, if they think there is something else that the group could do for anyone who is in need. It is heartwarming that the Filipino community in Dubai is reaching out for the welfare of the less privileged community in the Philippines.

Philanthropilipino will definitely go a long way with the support of all its members. Merry Christmas to everyone and here’s to another year of spreading love and paying it forward.
