In light of the recent disappearance of the Malaysian airplane, people all around the world are questioning technology and the fact that a plane can go missing for so many days without leaving a trace. According to Dr. Michael Hurd, a psychotherapist, technology exists only because of the human ability to think rationally. However, is it possible that this man-made technology can surpass the man that brought it to existence? In this week’s debate our focus is on technology versus humanity and whether we have created something that is outshining our own intelligence.
These are the statements to be debated:
• Is technology not a match for mans cunning?
• Technology will always get the better of man.
• The human mind cannot be duplicated as it works on logic, reasoning, emotion and intuition.
Participants will be required to clearly state whether they are ‘for’ or ‘against’ the statement and provide their supporting arguments for the same.
