(RAGOUT)

Pull up your socks

India is not dealing with this barbaric behaviour appropriately (Five-year-old-girl’s rape stuns India,’ Gulf News, April 20). This is resulting in the death of moral values and innocent people are suffering. People are losing faith in their own government and people. I consider the death penalty without mercy the only way to stop such nasty crimes and put India’s population back on the right track. People are criticising the Indian government because of the way they are running the country and punishing criminals.

Inhuman criminal

I feel very sad and angry hearing about this incident. Why would someone rape an innocent girl? Little girls are God’s gifts and nobody has the right to abuse them. This is inhumane. No stone must be left unturned to bring this criminal to justice.

Never-ending blame game

This is not just about women’s safety. Is the country to be blamed? Or are the people to be blamed? Or can we blame it on the laws the country runs on? These controversies will never end. But we are not here to play the blame game, because when I look at it, I think every single person alive is to be blamed. What have we made our world into? However, no matter who blames who, the mother of the poor child will surely be blaming herself for leaving her daughter alone, even though it was for a short interval of time.

Must be hanged

The man responsible for raping, torturing and nearly killing the five-year-old girl over a period of 48 hours deserves the toughest punishment for this heinous crime (‘India rape: Protests across Delhi against police laxity,’ Gulf News, April 21). It is due to men with such cheap mentality that women and young girls are not safe even at home, in school and on the streets.

It is a matter of great shame and disgust that people like these are part of the society. The man should be given capital punishment. To further aggravate the situation and add to the misery of rape victims, is the lax attitude of the police and lawmaking authorities of India. They have simply failed to keep their country’s women and children safe. It is high time that the authorities in the capital take tough measures to stop such cruel criminals. My heart goes out to the young girl who had to endure so much pain and suffering. Hope she recovers soon.

Worse than animals

The fact that rape incidents are happening again and again reveals that man has stooped to such a low level that even animals would be ashamed of such filthy human beings. Negligence on the part of authorities is one major reason for such crimes. Where is the law being applied in India and what of the law enforcement agency? Capital punishment is the best punishment. If only man applied his brains!

Don’t blame the country

Why are you blaming India? What are other countries doing? I feel there are countries more shameful in this regard.

Take a quick action

India tops the shame list again! Until we don’t take action, such incidents will keep happening again and again.

No solution

Liquor use and explicit Bollywood movies are affecting the brains of uneducated men out there (‘Daily Facebook Discussion - An Asian Centre for Human Rights report shows an increase of 336% in child rapes between 2001 and 2011. How do we protect our children?’ Gulf News, April 20). I don’t see any solution on the horizon as high profits and business gains are considered more important than society these days.

Weak consequences

This is not true, but such crimes are not punished in India by a society that predominantly views women as second-class citizens, (including the actual police force which is rife with corruption). Where the consequences of breaking the law are weak, crime of all kinds will prevail.
