Glad to see such news reported by Gulf News (‘Dubai cleaner who returned gold, cash and passports honoured,’ Gulf News, April 10). We need more people like Ashraf in the world. His honesty shows the values he holds. These are the kind of values I want children to learn. I strongly believe that if you do good you will most certainly earn the rewards sometime.

Mohammad Ashraf may God bless you. When I read this story I remembered a customs officer at Kochi International Airport, India. I had lost a bag last year, in December, at the airport. The bag contained gold for my daughter’s wedding. I did not expect that I would ever find it. Whoever found the bag would obviously keep the gold. However, I was wrong. This customs officer I had spoken with actually traced my number and called me back to return the bag intact. I don’t know the officer’s name, but today once again I would like to thank him. Thank you.
