I have been charged Dh873 (late charges plus finance charges) on my supplementary card of United Arab Bank (UAB) and below is the breakup:

UAB has charged Dh700 for late payment charges and interest (for four months) on my supplementary card with no communication from the bank that there is outstanding.

UAB has charged Dh173 even after clearing full payment on the credit card and though their statement dated November 5, 2013 reflects my payment within due date.

Till date I have never received credit card statement from UAB either for primary or supplementary card. Also my colleague has never received credit card statement from UAB. No email statements are generated and sent. In fact they don’t have an option for this. No SMS alert for amount due/outstanding on the credit card. No online access is provided to check outstanding on the credit card. If I have 10 supplementary cards, is it practical to call UAB for each card to find out my outstanding. When it comes to other banks, supplementary card outstanding is included in the primary card. I am always getting UAB promotional messages but never received any communication (post, email, SMS or call from phone banker for outstanding balance on supplementary card) or online access to check outstanding despite visiting Deira branch and requesting for online access.

When I call them to check the outstanding on my primary card they do not have information about my supplementary card outstanding. I have visited their Deira branch and met branch head at least 10 times regarding this and to my surprise bank personnel only advised me to cancel this card as they are hearing many complaints. I have called customer care multiple times for this issue. Despite all these every month I used to call UAB to find out the outstanding on primary card assuming that I will know the total outstanding (primary plus supplementary) but even call centre staff has not informed me that there is an outstanding on my supplementary card. I have never defaulted on my primary card even if there is absolutely no communication from the UAB.

Bank charged late payment fee plus interest of Dh700 for four months then transferred my file to credit recovery department. I got a call that there is outstanding on my supplementary card and I paid it on the same day. Unfortunately no communications from UAB, but expect a call from their recovery department.
