Wrap up well in the cooler months
It is quite common for Arab Gulf countries to experience the cooler weather and sandstorms at this time of the year. Even heavy rains are known, as was demonstrated quite recently, when it was seen that a number of new housing projects were ill-prepared for the torrents.
However, from the point of view of the individual's health, many people may take inadequate precautions to protect themselves, particularly from the sandstorms.
Those who suffer from asthma, or similar problems with the lungs, will already be familiar with the need to have adequate protection against the sandy atmosphere.
But the normally healthy person may not appreciate it is wise to guard against the sand, as it can infect the nose and throat, as well as the eyes. Taking simple precautions makes better sense than spending money on drugs to cure infections.
