UAE promotes green economy
Nation aims to become a hub for exporting sustainable products and technologies

The success of countries and companies is no longer simply measured by their economic achievements, but also by their contribution to conserving the environment and natural resources and improving the living standards of communities.
This is the importance of the ‘UAE Strategy for Green Development' — a national, nine-year initiative to develop a sustainable economy — announced by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative aims to make the UAE one of the global pioneers in creating a green economy and a hub for exporting and re-exporting sustainable products and technologies, among other objectives. However, the UAE has already moved beyond policy and into practice with its investments in projects like Masdar, a purpose-built city that aims to produce no waste or harmful emissions. The announcement coincided with the launch of the World Future Energy Summit, which is being hosted in Abu Dhabi. The summit, which is being attended by world political and business leaders, aims to promote the use of green energy and effective water and waste management. The world must move towards the use of renewable resources if it is to provide a sustainable quality of life for all.
