The UAE has been blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, be it the beaches or mountains, the valleys or the desert. It is therefore imperative that its residents learn to take care of it.

The Dubai Municipality has begun cracking down on those who do not register for tents used for camping over a long period of time in the desert. These tents sometimes violate security, environmental and construction requirements when they are pitched for the long term. To combat this, supervisors are carrying out periodic inspections in coordination with Dubai Police. Since the end of November, 107 tents have already been removed.

Camping out in the desert, especially during the winter months, can be fun and a good break from normal routine. But it is important to abide by the rules in order to protect the desert environment and safeguard health. To ensure this, residents must register for permits and meet the requirements before setting up tents. But those who wish to enjoy the weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city life, can still do it as there is no need to apply for a permit for overnight stay.
