As the start date of Ramadan nears, various activities are being organised for the holy month. The Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing is to offer a new lecture programme — called the Ramadan Forum — which will be presented in English and Tagalog. "The forum is very keen on involving all Muslims and non-Muslims living in the UAE in the activities of the forum. This year, we will present new religious and educational programmes with a number of scholars from the US, Canada, India and the Philippines," said Khalifa Al Falasi, Head of the forum's team.

No doubt organising these lectures provide an important service to Muslims who do not speak Arabic. Yet, what is also important is the fact that the non-Muslim audience is also taken into consideration. This is certainly an important step that should set a precedent for other projects.
