Protect UAE's fauna and flora
Illegal import of animals, seeds and other organisms threatens local species.
Plants, seeds and animals are vital components to any country's flora and fauna makeup. In order to ensure that they are preserved, proper measures must be taken to check that the balance created by nature is not disturbed. Failure to do so will result in the degradation of the environment.
The UAE's environment is currently under threat from the illegal import of animals, seeds, reptiles, birds and other organisms from other countries. This is creating an ecological imbalance. Unless something is done, the problem will assume unmanageable proportions.
Creating an awareness campaign for people in the country is the first measure towards tackling this problem. People visiting the UAE must be educated on what forms of wildlife, birds and plants are precious to its environment. Travellers should also follow provisions laid down by Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Adequate penalties must also be put in place for those who choose to disregard the law.
