Israel, which has more than two hundred atomic warheads, is planning to develop "civilian nuclear plants for energy." There is no surprise here. The project will be supervised by France, which helped Israel in the 1950s develop atomic weapons.

The surprise though, or perhaps what is ironic, is that Israeli Infrastructure Minister, Uzi Landau, is offering to "cooperate" with Arab states in developing nuclear energy and the process of technology exchange.

No thanks. What the Arabs need from Israel is the basic respect of sovereignty and human rights of the Palestinians, who have been living for the past six decades in a massive concentration camp, called the Occupied Territories. We don't need Israel's nuclear technology help. We need Israel to simply abide by the UN resolution and withdraw from the occupied lands.

Israel should know there is only one way to have any sort of cooperation with the Arab world — settlement of the Palestinian question.
