The decision to open as many as eight more schools in Dubai illustrates a proactive approach by the authorities towards boosting the benefits and facilities of education.
The schools will cater to pupils from various cultures and backgrounds — three will follow the Indian curriculum; four will adopt the British (IB) curriculum and one the Filipino curriculum. The schools will be spread across the emirate, particularly in areas which are seeing a growing influx of expatriates, like Al Wuheida, Dubai Sports City, Nad Al Sheba and Al Khail Road.
In conjunction with these plans will come an announcement that school fees will be raised. This, however, will be based on the quality of education that is provided to students.
By giving children the chance, and now the choice, to avail proper education, Dubai officials are facilitating their multifaceted role in society. Students are being prepared for more than just the job market. They are being primed to become healthy, informed, connected and resilient individuals who can make the most of the services that they have been provided with so that they can make valuable contributions to society.
