If ever there was evidence needed to prove that the Israeli authorities have bigoted double standards when it comes to dealing with Palestinians, then look no further than this recent example of a disgusting and despicable action.

A new Palestinian house and a new two-storey apartment block were destroyed by Israeli bulldozers in occupied East Jerusalem, once they were finished being built — and the property owners weren’t even given a chance to remove their personal belongings.

According to Israel, the buildings were constructed without proper licences. But the Israelis refuse to give licences to Palestinians — even though the land itself is owned by Palestinians in the occupied city. How ironic. Israel has no issue stealing vast tracts of Palestinian land in the area, building thousands of colonist homes — and doing so while the rest of world, save its allies in Washington, condemn the illegal land grab. Tel Aviv ignores UN motions, international condemnation and the most basic Palestinian rights to do as it wants — bulldoze where it wants, and build with wanton greed. Shame.
