Since the start of the Israeli onslaught against Palestinians in Gaza, hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets of the Arab world, Europe, the US and Asia in protest. For more than two weeks, these people have been pleading with their leaders to put pressure on the Jewish state to end its unlawful and inhuman attacks against the Gazans. They have succeeded in pointing out the hypocrisy of the international community in the face of the Israeli aggression and crimes. They have also highlighted how UN resolutions are ignored and how no one dares to enforce them when it comes to Israel.
In Istanbul, first ladies from several Arab and Muslim countries added their voices to these protests, calling on the international community to press Israel to stop its attacks. At a time when crimes against humanity are being carried out, it is encouraging and heartening to see people from all walks of life and all corners of the world trying to be heard.
