Given that water resources are scarce in this part of the world, it is necessary that all means for its preservation are pursued. A long-term strategy should be in place to ensure that water resources are preserved for today and for future generations. In the UAE, water consumption levels have been marked to be one of the highest worldwide. The authorities have been aiming at devising plans that would ensure efficient usage of water resources — not only by individuals, but also by institutions and entities.
But it is important to note that any effort towards water conservation will require individuals to take on the responsibility — whether at home or workplace. And this requires educating users of best practices in terms of limiting water use to what is necessary. What is more critical though is the fact that the younger generation needs to be informed on the importance of the matter.
As the world celebrates World Water Day, there is an immediate need to find feasible and practical solutions to conserving water on a global level.
