The findings of a recent survey that a majority of Emirati women plan to work after their graduation should be a factor that is seriously taken into consideration when looking at the issue of Emirati women entering the work force. The study, which was carried out as a collaborative effort between a UAE-based university, an international university and a local research institute, found that65 per cent of those would be on the trail of looking for a job instead of sitting at home.

The results are important as much as enlightening as it indicates a shift in Emirati women's perception of the work place and their role in it. It is but obvious that these women are interested in becoming contributing participants in society.

It is therefore crucial that such a drive and talent is taken advantage of and utilised in the development of society at large.
