The right of the public to seek redressal for their grievances with government entities lies at the heart of transparent governance and the Abu Dhabi judicial department is doing an excellent job of encouraging residents to take their issues to court. Non-federal government entities in the capital like funds, diwans, centres, companies, departments, majlises, committees and educational facilities — to name a few — are all under this purview and the operating principle in urging the public to step forward is to safeguard their interests and money. From 2010 to 2014, 101 government entities were prosecuted by individuals. Two thousand and five hundred verdicts were issued in favour of government bodies and 900 in favour of complainants.

Officials have clarified that the latter numbers can be attributed to a lack of due diligence by the complainant with paperwork or a delay in filing the complaint. This advisory approach from the government only reiterates the commitment of Abu Dhabi to provide its people the highest form of justice and fair play at all times — a core value that fully integrates with the UAE’s Vision 2021.
