1992 - Two goals superbly struck by Nasser Al Gatami in the second half helped Saudi Arabia humble defending champions South Korea to lift the 28th Asian Youth Soccer Cup at the Sharjah Club Stadium. After a well-fought barren first half, Saudi Arabia struck in the 64th and 78th minutes to confirm their superiority over their rivals. Saudis had beaten the South Koreans 4-0 in a group match earlier in the tournament. Earlier in the afternoon, a three-goal burst in the second half — the last two coming in a space of four minutes towards the end of the match — powered Japan past the UAE to clinch the third spot. Favourites to retain the trophy, despite their mauling in pool match, South Korea were always struggling against the fast-moving Saudis.
