Saeed Al Tayer won a special place in powerboat racing history when he completed an unprecedented second successive Class One World Championship triumph at the helm of a sensational 1-2-3 Victory Team finish in the Emirates Grand Prix. With Puerto Rican throttle ace Felix Serralles sharing the cockpit in his Dubai-built catamaran, Al Tayer drove a well-judged race to clinch the top podium spot following an absorbing 79-minute battle with the threatening Italian raiders. The victory extended Al Tayer’s points total to an unbeatable 138, giving him a decisive 30 point cushion over his closest challenger Edoardo Polli in Bilba. He has won four races to Polli’s two. “I’m still trying to absorb the shock of having won,” said Al Tayer looking visibly exhausted by the pressures of a demanding race.
