Maktoum attends Arab Summit

2002 - His Highness Shaikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, arrived in Beirut as the head of the UAE delegation to participate in the 14th Arab Summit. He was welomed at the airport by Lebanese President Emil Lahoud, Amr Mousa, Secretary General of the Arab League, and a number of senior officials. Shaikh Maktoum said that the UAE has high expectations that the outcome of the summit would serve Arab causes and bring peace and stability to the region. He expressed the hope that the leaders would succeed in reaching a consensus and make decisions that would protect Arab rights and support the struggle of the Palestinian people. “I am glad to be attending the second Arab Summit,” he said.
