1993 - Dubai’s spanking new landmark, the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, was officially inaugurated by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Minister of Defence. After opening the complex, Shaikh Mohammad toured the facility, and watched a sensational fireworks display that highlighted the magnificent landscape of the golf course and the impressive architecture of the clubhouse with its floodlit, sail-shaped facade. The Dubai Creek complex represents a lush green landscape created beside the creek, an outstanding feat of engineering involving the reshaping of 80 hectares of desert. A Government of Dubai project, the Creek complex is expected to be a major attraction in the city, and a major enhancement to the emirate’s business and tourism infrastructure.
