Iran denies UAE teachers entry to Abu Mousa

1992 - More than 100 teachers and their families were stranded in the Gulf waters after they were denied entry to Abu Mousa Island by the Iranian authorities. They returned to Port Khalid in Sharjah after three days in miserable condition with no food and little water. According to Sharjah Police Chief Colonel Mohammad Khalifa Al Muallah, the Arab expatriate teachers and their families, along with nationals and Asian expatriate workers, headed to Abu Mousa Island on Al Khatter boat. They arrived at the destination two hours later, but the Iranian authorities did not admit the boat to the port and refused to allow the teachers entry onto the island until they received visit or residential visas from the Iranian authorities.
