The explosions in Cairo prove that the criminals and those who support them are hell-bent on drowning Egypt in blood, through whatever means necessary, said UAE’s Al Bayan. “Terrorism is blind and cowardly that does not differentiate between people or civil, military or religious sites. Its only goal is to spark a holy war in Egypt, a nation that remains steadfast against divisions and will foil the plans of these criminals, regardless of the experience or capabilities these terrorists possess in destroying nations. We are witnessing with great sorrow the regional events that are unfolding, as terrorism targets Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Yemen, Egypt and Libya. These crimes are unacceptable on a humanitarian, religious or national level. They are crimes committed by groups that hide behind religious and nationalistic slogans, that are most probably being run by agents of countries and agencies that want to destroy the Arab and Islamic world,” the paper said.

It seems that it is the fate of Egypt to thwart terrorism once again, in a battle that is growing more sophisticated and violent, said Egypt’s Al Ahram. “The terrorists bombed St Mark’s Cathedral in an effort to spark sedition, but the people of Egypt are well aware of the cowardly plan. As the fight intensifies between the Egyptian Ministry of Interior and the people of Egypt against terrorists, security forces are bolstering pre-emptive measures against these criminals in order to foil any of their destructive schemes. A security source had already pointed out that the Muslim Brotherhood had asked terrorists to increase their operations during the coming few days as the New Year’s celebrations draw closer. This is a move that indicates that the noose is tightening on the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and abroad.”

Islamic countries have lived through bloody days in which dozens of innocent lives were lost due to blind terrorism that has no religion and does not differentiate between young or old, men or women, said Qatar’s Al Sharq.

“Qatar’s Foreign Ministry severely condemned the bombings in Istanbul, Mogadishu and Cairo that led to the death of innocents and wounded hundreds. It is a move that reflects awareness on the danger posed by terrorism to social cohesion between the people of a single nation. Terrorism’s only goal is to disturb security and stability, to instil fear and kill innocents in acts that contradict all humanitarian and divine principles and values. Qatar has once again reaffirmed its unwavering position in rejecting violence and has called for addressing the root of the problem and consolidating values of tolerance.”

The attack on St Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo indicates a dangerous trend in the operations and plans of terrorist organisations, said UAE’s Al Khaleej. “The most dangerous indication is that these attacks targeted a renowned church in the middle of Cairo to kill as many people as possible during the time of prayers, in an operation that probably falls within the framework of conspiracies targeting Egypt and other Arab nations that have been plagued by terrorism, with the goal of sparking sectarian strife and disrupting social cohesion in these countries. The attack also signifies that the north of Sinai is no longer the stronghold of terrorism or the main battlefront for combating this plague.”
