Yet another tragic accident in Salalah has raised the number of deaths due to car accidents. Five people were killed, including an Emirati woman, following a head-on collision in Qatbeit, located in the southern region of the country. The woman’s death is the eighth car accident case after seven members of a family died in the same area the week before.
The Salalah road is one that is well travelled by thousands of people from inside and outside the country. Salalah is a very popular tourist destination and many visitors opt to reach it by road. But it is important that safety measures are followed by drivers in order to ensure that no more accidents or tragic deaths take place.
Hence, there is a need for an awareness campaign on safe driving as well as the introduction of strict measures for those who do not abide by the law. In addition, drivers should be educated on the condition of this particular road and its route as deaths must come to an end.
