The UAE is gaining the reputation of having one of the highest per capita carbon and ecological footprints. In this context, the process of waste management can be a daunting task for everyone who lives here, given that they produce 12 times their body size of waste annually.

The way to tackle this malaise is by adopting baby steps, the failure of which could lead to adverse effects on people and their environment. Recycling, therefore, is the key as it helps to conserve energy via the minimum use of natural resources.

In short, there is a three-fold benefit from recycling — preserving the environment, saving energy and cutting down on pollution. Taking our everyday trash to the nearest recycling centre is an effective way to start. This culture should also trickle down to the youth who, then, have a better grasp of managing their natural surroundings.

Everyone should work towards this goal for a better tomorrow.
