A month after widespread flooding devastated central regions of Pakistan, the people there are still trying to rebuild their shattered lives. With the onslaught of winter, the plight of millions of people is perilous as they try to find the basic necessities of food, shelter and clean water.

After a month of relief efforts, it's hard to measure progress, given the scale of the disaster and the lack of infrastructure, roads and hospitals.

A telethon to help Pakistan that started last Wednesday has raised Dh75 million so far. That's a huge sum. Sadly, though, much more is needed.
The telethon will wrap up today, with a target of Dh100 million.
