Sultan receives King Faisal award

2001 - Intellectuals in the country praised the decision by the Selection Committee of the King Faisal International Prize to grant this year’s award to His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for his services to Islam. Shaikh Sultan was the right choice the Selection Committee had made for the key role he has played in promoting Islam and supporting Islamic issues, arts and culture for decades. Dr Abdullah Al Rukin, Head of the Emirates Jurists Association, said the great achievements made by Shaikh Sultan in Sharjah and his keenness to provide support and contribute personally to various religious and cultural projects in Arab countries and other parts of the world qualified him for the award.
