Former Dubai-based comedian Nitin Mirani will return to his favourite city to host and open for Indian funnyman Kapil Sharma and his team when they bring a live version of The Kapil Sharma Show — called The Comedy Show with Kapil Sharma and Family — to the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 27.
Mirani, who is currently filming a Bollywood movie in Mumbai, has performed around the world and opened for comedians such as Marlon Wayans, Eddie Griffin and Trevor Noah.
“I can’t wait to entertain Dubai. The Kapil Sharma Show is undoubtedly one of the most successful shows on TV right now and has been selling out live all over the globe,” Mirani tells Gulf News tabloid!. “I have been a Kapil Sharma fan from his Laughter Challenge days and actually been an opening act for [his team member] Sunil Grover when he performed in Dubai in 2005.”
Mirani, who started performing with his Komic Sutra company more than 10 years ago in the UAE, says he will add a “local flavour” to the show.
“Also having recently gotten engaged, I’m definitely going to be talking about relationships and couples. So expect the unexpected and a laugh riot,” he adds.
“We are so proud to have Nitin, our local comedian, on board to host the show. He will certainly add to the laughter mayhem to make it a night to remember,” said Anita Abraham of Eyka Events, the organisers.
Sharma, who currently hosts celebrity chat show The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony Television, became a household name in India with the hugely popular Comedy Nights with Kapil, which premiered in June 2013.
His Dubai troupe will include Grover, Kiku Sharda, Ali Asgar, Sugandha Mishra and Chandan Prabhakar. The show will follow a similar format as the talk show.
