This is the dramatic moment a family car caught fire in the middle of a lion enclosure – leaving a mother to choose between the risk of burning alive or encountering one of nature's fiercest predators.
The picture was shot by a witness just moments after a family were rescued from the blazing car by rangers at Longleat Safari Park in the UK. Scroll down to view a video of the drama shot by a bystander and uploaded to YouTube.
Helen Clements was enjoying a trip to the park with son George, nine, and daughter Charlie, 12.
As the family drove through the lion enclosure, the car broke down and started to smoke – just 100 yards away from the huge animals.
Clements told the BBC that she and George opened their doors as rangers started running towards them.
She said: "They were shouting to us 'get back in the car, do not get out of the car'. It was a situation of 'what do you do?' Do you get out of the car because you're on fire? And they're telling you to get back in the car, so that was the dilemma."
The family were pulled to safety moments before their car went up in flames.
An eyewitness took this video of the car as it was destroyed by the fire.
Fire crews extinguished the flames within 15 minutes, according to UK newspaper the Daily Mail. It is thought the fire could have been caused by overheating, a fuel leak or an electrical fault.
