New York: A woman suspected of killing her 8-year-old son at the Peninsula Hotel New York and then trying to commit suicide has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police said 49-year-old Gigi Jordan was charged on Saturday at a hospital where she was taken after being found slumped on the floor of her room in the five-star hotel. Her dead son was nearby.
Police said the boy was found on Friday lying face-up on the bed. They say the boy and his mother were surrounded by prescription medication.
City medical examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said the boy's cause of death is pending toxicology and tissue studies.
Prosecutors said they do not know whether Jordan has an attorney or when she would be arraigned.
