Colombo: Sri Lanka's top defense official has challenged international human rights groups to produce evidence of war crimes alleged to have been committed in the island's civil war.
Defense secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa urged the rights groups to use the country's legal system if there is any evidence.
Rights groups have said they have photographic and video evidence to show Sri Lanka's alleged rights abuse.
Sri Lanka has refused calls to establish an international tribunal, saying it would conduct its own probe.
An estimated 80,000 to 100,000 people died during a quarter-century of fighting.
