Manila: A six-year-old girl has rescued her baby brother from a fire in the central Philippines, newspapers reported on Saturday.
Virginia Rojo was asleep when fire engulfed her home in Negros, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
The girl carried her four-month-old brother Joren out of their shack, shielding the child with her own body.
The brother was unharmed but Virginia suffered burns to her face and hands.
Authorities said a stray cigarette butt may have ignited the wooden shanty where the two children were sleeping.
